Saint Louis Marie de Montfort wrote many things during his short life, some longer, some shorter. He wrote always with the one purpose: to bring Christians to a deeper understanding of the Christian faith, and to encourage them to live their Baptismal dedication to God.

For an understanding of his spirituality, the major works to consult are:

As a founder of Religious Congregations and of various Associations, he wrote a number of Rules:

• The Rule of the Daughters of Wisdom, accompanied by The Maxims of Divine Wisdom
• Rules for various Associations
• The "Wisdom Cross" of Poitiers

A number of his Letters to various people have been preserved, as well as numerous Hymns for use in the Missions, his Last Will and Testament, and two manuscript notebooks: the Book of Sermons and the Notebook.
