The Company of Mary has had missions in Madagascar for many years, and today there are a few Malagassy Brothers and Students. Madagascar is today a General Delegation of the Company of Mary, dependent on the General Administration, but missionaries are still supplied by the French and Italian provinces. The work done is mainly in parishes, but there is also a novitiate and seminary, and the mission is responsible for a Centre for Rural Education and another for Agricultural Training.

The Montfort Missionaries first went to Malawi (then known as Nyasaland) in 1901, and began missionary work in the South of the country, in the Shire River region. Today, four Provinces continue to send missionaries to Malawi: the French, Dutch, Italian and Great Britain and Ireland Provinces. The French and British/Irish work mainly in Zomba diocese, the Dutch in Blantyre diocese, and the Italians are responsible for the diocese of Mangochi. The work is mainly in parishes, but they also maintain a number of Pastoral centres, and the Italian missionaries produce various publications at Balaka. There are today a few Malawian students who have joined the Congregation, and are at present preparing for the priesthhood, as well as three ordained Malawian priests.

Formerly there were many Dutch Montfortians working in Mozambique, but the civil war in that country reduced the numbers considerably. However, one or two stayed on, and for a while there were four Montfortians there, two Dutch and two Indian missionaries. The numbers have now been reduced to one.

The Company of Mary has one residence in Uganda, at Mbarara, where there is a novitiate for English-speaking African novices. Some retreat work and ministry to AIDS sufferers is also done by the English, Irish and Dutch members there.

The Democratic Republic of Congo (the former Zaïre) was for many years a mission supported by the Belgian Province of the Company of Mary, aided by a few Dutch confreres. Some still work in the diocese of Isangi, and they have been joined by a handful of Congolese members.

The presence of the Company of Mary in India dates from the early 1970s. Today there are about 26 Indian priests, and nearly 20 students studying for the priesthood. Many of the members of the delegation are involved in the formation houses: the junior college, novitiate and scholasticate in Bangalore and Mysore. A few others work in missions among the tribal peoples of India, and a coffee plantation is maintained to raise much-needed funds.

The Dutch Province has traditionally sent many missionaries to Indonesia. There are still 8 working there, although they have all taken Indonesian nationality. They work, together with a number of Indonesian priests and brothers, in the diocese of Sintang in Borneo, and in the Novitiate and Scholasticate in Bandung in Java. There are at present about 30 Indonesians studying for the priesthood as Montfortians in Indonesia.

The Canadian Province is responsible for the Montfortian Mission in Papua New Guinea, where they care for the diocese of Daru-Kiunga in the Western Province, one of the least-developed parts of the country. There are now only 5 missionaries in the diocese (including the Bishop), aided by one or two Papuan diocesan priests and some other missionaries of other congregations. One other member of the Canadian Province is the Bishop of the Diocese of Bereina.

The presence of the Company of Mary in the Philippines dates from about 1984. There is one member each from the Colombian and Dutch Provinces, together with one Indonesian priest. Seven or eight Filipino priests have already been ordained, and there are a number of students preparing for the priesthood. Apart from the Novitiate and Scholasticate, the Montfort Missionaries care for a poor parish in Greater Manila, and have opened a mission house in Cebu, from which they conduct nine-month-long missions in the parishes of the island.
